Civil Litigation

RESOLVES DISPUTES WITH NON-GOVERNMENT ENTITIES.

When someone disputes an action of an individual or an organization they’ve agreed to do business with, the civil court often settles the matter.

Civil litigation deals with any type of dispute that doesn’t involve criminal behavior. Some of these cases look like a customer suing a vendor for not living up to their end of the bargain, a family member challenging a clause to a relative’s will, or a car accident victim seeking compensation for their injuries. Other types of cases addressed in civil court also include divorce, adoption, and other family issues.

Unlike criminal cases, where the government brings charges on behalf of society, in civil cases, an individual, a business, or other entity files the claim against the party who wronged them. Often only a judge decides civil cases, or there may be a jury trial depending on the size and seriousness of the case. Sometimes, these cases go to arbitration, in which a court-appointed arbiter negotiates a settlement between the two parties.

It takes a lawyer who is a skilled negotiator with keen insight and understanding to prepare and win a civil case, regardless of whether that case goes to trial or settles through arbitration.

At The Law Offices of Jarret Adams, we possess the skills to efficiently lead clients from the point of filing a complaint to trial or settlement.
